Siemens, as a long-standing and strategic partner to Egypt, had the opportunity to participate in the EU-Egypt Investment Conference held on June 29-30. This conference was significant in marking a new era of economic collaboration and provided a great opportunity to discuss Egypt's economic reforms. The reforms aim to improve the business environment and attract more EU investment in key sectors. These efforts are expected to drive forward the energy transition by focusing on areas such as renewable hydrogen production, promoting the circular economy, and boosting the pharmaceutical, medical, and automotive sectors. The investments also target sustainable agriculture, food systems, water security, innovation, and digitalization. The conference brought together various participants, including EU and Member States representatives, Egyptian senior officials, international financial institutions, and CEOs of European and Egyptian companies. During the conference, Siemens Middle East CEO Helmut von Struve was among the distinguished guests at the presidential roundtable with H.E. the president of Egypt, and Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission. He also participated in the discussion panel on "Turbocharging Egypt’s green and circular economies," which focused on encouraging private investment to accelerate the transition towards a green and circular economy and its positive impact on the fight against climate change and the preservation of natural resources. The conference provided a great opportunity for fruitful discussions, highlighting the economic landscape and investment climate, offering deeper insights into challenges and potential opportunities in both regions, while strengthening the longstanding ties between Egypt and the EU. It reflects the joint efforts from the Egyptian Government and the EU to continue the journey towards a greener and more prosperous future.
