On 12th December 2024, AHK Egypt had the honor of welcoming H.E. Dr. Ahmed Kouchouck, Egyptian Finance Minister, and H.E. Jürgen Schulz, German Ambassador to Egypt, to the AHK Egypt event titled “New Tax Facilities: A New Era Between Investors and the Tax Authority” at AHK Egypt premises.

H.E. Kouchouck and H.E. Schulz were warmly welcomed by Ahmed Elsewedy, AHK Egypt President, and Maren Diale-Schellschmidt, AHK Egypt CEO. The event aimed to provide AHK members with the opportunity to hear directly from the Egyptian minister about the recent fiscal policies and tax reforms introduced by the Ministry of Finance to support Egypt’s investment scene in Egypt.

In his opening speech, ambassador Schulz emphasized the longstanding economic and trade relationship between Germany and Egypt. “We welcome the progress of the Egyptian government in fostering reform and change. We want to work together to attract and encourage FDI in Egypt, especially as many German companies are exploring business opportunities in the Egyptian market,” said Schulz. He further highlighted Germany’s commitment to Egypt's modernization efforts, evidenced by the extensive use of German technology in key national Egyptian projects.

Minister Kouchouck shared with AHK Egypt’s members the Ministry of Finance’s plans and priorities for the upcoming period, particularly through its tax facilitation packages. He outlined the Ministry’s main focus: rebuilding trust and strengthening relationships with taxpayers and investors. To achieve this, the Ministry is  prioritizing the following: providing taxpayers with enhanced liquidity and support, protecting taxpayers’ rights, formulating sound fiscal policies to ensure Egypt’s fiscal sustainability, and finally supporting SMEs and entrepreneurs in establishing their businesses.

After presenting an in-depth overview of the Ministry’s agenda and initiatives to advance tax facilities, H.E. Kouchouck opened the floor and engaged directly with AHK Egypt members in a Q&A session, addressing their business and financial challenges.
