“Egypt Meets Bavaria” Egyptian Hydrogen Delegation

24.07.2024

In cooperation with the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, the Hydrogen Center Bavaria (H2.B) and Bayern International, the Climate Change and Sustainability Working Group at the German-Arab Chamber of Industry & Commerce organized a delegation trip from July 8th, 2024, to July 12th 2024 to Bavaria, Germany.

The delegation embarked with a group of Egyptian green hydrogen developers eager to connect with prospective off-takers and investors from Bavaria, recognizing the mutual opportunities each region presents to the other in the field of green hydrogen and renewable energy. On one hand, Egypt has recognized its responsibility in mitigating these effects and launched its “National Strategy for Climate Change 2050” in May 2022. The strategy aims to improve the standard of living, ensure sustainable economic growth, and protect Egypt’s natural resources.

Meanwhile, Bavaria is currently investing its resources to import green hydrogen, to meet the high demand for hydrogen in the market, which is why they have launched their own Bavarian Hydrogen strategy.

The delegation has therefore gone on multiple site visits and met with numerous Bavarian companies to network and create opportunities for joint ventures.

On the first day of the trip, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Munich and Upper Bavaria held the “H2 Networking Event,"  in which the delegation had the opportunity to learn about the hydrogen ecosystems in Bavaria and Egypt, know about the various offtake scenarios, navigate the process and utilize the financial instruments that they can utilize to successfully launch their projects. They also participated in B2B meetings, exchanging their experiences with Bavarian stakeholders in the field of hydrogen.

The Egyptian hydrogen developers also had the opportunity to pitch their companies to the Bavarian companies and vice versa.

On their second day, the group learned about the operations of the company via guided tour of the technical hall at Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies. Afterward, they visited the Robert Bosch GmbH headquarters to talk with Bosch experts and learn more about the company’s hydrogen-related initiatives.

During another field trip, the group visited SFC Energy AG and the MAN Energy Solutions plant.

As for the highlights of the delegation trip, it was the meetings with two potential off-takers Thüga AG and Reallabor Burghausen – ChemDelta Bavaria.

This delegation trip is one of the many activities planned by our Climate Change and Sustainability Working Group, which strives to offer its members the best opportunities to thrive in their fields.

We would like to extend our gratitude to our members who have joined our delegation, as well as thank the Bavarian companies that have generously hosted us.
