On December 2, 2022, the soft opening of “October Dry Port” (ODP) as the first dry port in Egypt and the largest facility of its kind in Africa was announced. The ODP is an inland port that speeds up the flow of cargo between ships and major land transportation networks in Egypt it creates a central and fully equipped distribution point to facilitate the operations of freight forwarders, Egyptian importers and exporters and other shipping lines.  ​

The 6th of October Dry Port is the first public-private partnership (PPP) project in the sector and the first under the EBRD Green Cities programme in Egypt.
