On June 2nd, 2025, we were honored to co-host a CBAM awareness workshop in collaboration with the General Organization for Export & Import Control | GOEIC at the AHK Egypt premises.

We were privileged to welcome Eng. Rehab Aly, Executive Director of the GOEIC Carbon Certification Unit, as our keynote speaker.

Her presentation highlighted the emerging role of environmental verification and validation bodies in ensuring transparency, credibility, and regulatory compliance across the carbon credit and sustainability reporting landscape.

The workshop focused primarily on the European Union’s Carbon Border adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Attendees gained valuable insights into the legislative framework, compliance pathways, and the broader implications of CBAM for exporters and supply chains operating within and beyond the EU market.

The discussion also extended to the EU’s broader Green Deal policies and climate initiatives, such as the Circular Economy Action Plan, plastics regulations, and emissions trading schemes. An especially engaging part of the event was the lively discussion on the environmental impact of plastics in the region, where participants shared concerns, local policy responses, and innovation opportunities for improving sustainability outcomes in manufacturing and trade.

We extend our sincere thanks to Eng. Rehab Aly for her insightful contributions throughout this session, as well as to all our guests for their participation.

We are also pleased to announce that there will be a follow-up workshop, which will focus on carbon calculation methodologies and practical steps for organizations to meet reporting and compliance requirements. Stay Tuned!
