The German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Egypt) was proud to be part of the High -Level Jordanian–German Business Roundtable, held at the premises of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in Berlin on 24 February 2026. Representing the AHK were its CEO Maren Diale-Schellschmidt and Eng. Mohanad SalahEldin, Regional Director at the AHK for Jordan and Lebanon.
The Roundtable was organized on the occasion of a visit of two Jordanian Ministries to Germany: H.E. Dr. Tareq Abughazaleh, Minister of Investment, and H.E. Dr. Saleh A. Al-Kharabsheh, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, to Germany. Their goal was not only to present Jordan as a business and investment destination to German companies and interact with the German Business community , but also to promote the upcoming Jordan–EU Investment Conference , to be held on 21 April 2026 at the Dead Sea in Jordan. which will bring together European partners and investors to further mobilize investment and economic cooperation.
The insightful presentation held by the two Ministers, were complimented by speeches held by the Jordanian Ambassador to Germany, Dr. Fayiz Khouri, Ph.D, Mr Johann Saathoff, Parliamentary State Secretary at the BMZ and Ms. Henrike Trautmann, Director for Middle East at the European Commission and Dr. Peter Ramsauer, Honorary President of GHORFA.
All inputs highlighted the many opportunities in sectors such as energy, water, logistics, digital infrastructure, and high-value industries, areas where German technology and expertise can contribute to Jordan’s economic development and regional connectivity.
Delivering the closing remarks at the event, AHK CEO Maren Diale-Schellschmidt encouraged German companies to explore new opportunities in Jordan, describing the market as “Klein, aber Fein” - meaning : while the country may not be the largest market in the Middle East, its highly educated workforce, institutional stability and quick-minded business community offers untapped opportunities and could also be attractive for Business Service Outsourcing . Additionally, its geographic position makes it an ideal entry point into the neighboring countries including Syria and the wider region.
As part of the global AHK network, we value such exchanges that strengthen dialogue between policymakers and the private sector and help translate opportunities into concrete economic cooperation between Germany and the region. The high attendance from representatives from the business community has proven the relevance of such events with targeted networking opportunities.
We thank the organizers and partners for facilitating this valuable discussion in Berlin and are looking forward to rejoining for a deepening of the dialogue during the EU-Jordan Investment Conference in April!
