“Strengthening Metrology for Enhanced Competitiveness in the Egyptian Economy – SMIC II”

The workshop aims to introduce the objectives and key components of the SMIC II project and highlight its role in strengthening Egypt’s quality infrastructure and metrology system, thereby contributing to enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian companies and supporting their access to local and international markets.
The workshop will bring together representatives from key institutions, including:
- German National Metrology Institute (PTB)
- National Institute of Standards (NIS)
- National Food Safety Authority (NFSA)
- Representatives of AHK Egypt member companies from the Agriculture and Food Sector
The discussions will focus on topics relevant to the agriculture and food sector, including:
- The role of metrology and standards in improving product quality.
- Challenges faced by companies regarding testing, measurement, and food analysis.
- Food safety and conformity requirements and their role in facilitating trade and exports.
- Technical challenges faced by exporters when accessing international markets.
- Opportunities to strengthen laboratory, testing, measurement, and accreditation services in line with international requirements.
- Identifying priority areas that could benefit from the project’s activities.
- Exchanging experiences and perspectives between the private sector, governmental authorities, and relevant technical institutions.
The workshop will provide an important opportunity for members of the Agriculture and Food Sector to present practical challenges faced by their companies, discuss technical and regulatory needs, and contribute to identifying areas of cooperation and support that the project could provide to the Egyptian private sector.
